A ground-level apartment in Brooklyn with generous sun exposure on three sides and private access directly to the street, this project was an exercise in maximizing potential while contending with strict limitations in schedule and budget. The existing layout was flipped and partitions were built or removed to define an entry area, create a second bedroom, and open the kitchen into the new living room. A selection of simple and contemporary materials provides a neutral backdrop for the owner’s art and furniture, much of it custom-designed or curated by Office JDY. White and gray paint, together with subtle tile arrangements in the bathroom and kitchen, are complemented by black door and cabinet hardware.
